about abortion

express your thoughts on abortion

The Abortion by Anne Sexton
Somebody who should have been born is gone.

Just as the earth puckered its mouth,

each bud puffing out from its knot,

I changed my shoes, and then drove south.

Up past the Blue Mountains,

where

Pennsylvania humps on endlessly,

wearing, like a crayoned cat,

its green hair,

its roads sunken in like a gray washboard;

where, in truth, the ground cracks evilly,

a dark socket from which the coal has poured,

Somebody who should have been born

is gone.

the grass as bristly and stout as chives,

and me wondering when the ground would break,

and me wondering how anything fragile survives;

up in Pennsylvania, I met a little man,

not Rumpelstiltskin, at all, at all...

he took the fullness that love began.

Returning north, even the sky grew thin

like a high window looking nowhere.

The road was as flat as a sheet of tin.

Somebody who should have been born

is gone.

Yes, woman, such logic will lead

to loss without death. Or say what you meant,

you coward...this baby that I bleed

inspratoinal quotes

Life is like a game of cards. the hand that is dealt to you represents determinism; the way you play it is free will.
--norman cousins

Life is yours, you decide whether you going to do good or bad.

Life is yours so you decide whether you are going to make something out of it like make it some where and be successful or do nothing and just sit around let it past by.

I will go through school high school and college. I will have a good attitude. I will respect all the elderly.

the reason people join gangs

I think some people join gangs because of the environment that they in. Like for example if they live on this block where every body is in a gang in then they go wonder like man, do I suppose to be in a gang,; that’s what that person would ask some one in a gang in of course the person would tell them that they should be in a gang because they in a gang in that person in that gang would want every body else to follow his/her foot steps. Another reason I think why teens join gangs is because they don’t have no family. Like say if nobody at home is not paying no attention to you and you feel that the streets is then you get attach to them and want to become even closer then more people start having the same problem them yall become a group then it becomes one big gang.

Your question makes no sense. “Are the Gloucester teen pregnancies the result of a “perfect storm” of outside influences, or does responsibility lie elsewhere?”“Responsibility” is not the right word to use here and it isn’t an either or question. The increased rate of teen pregnancies is a complex issue but it is thought to come from a confluence of issues – poverty is one of them. Impoverished teens do not have the same future orientation as others with college in the future so they look for immediate access to adult world. Baby making is it. They also are the product of Bush’s abstinence program which has done as much good as he has. It’s wasted money and accomplished nothing. Teens need birth control (poster above: NOTE: Teens have sex. It isn’t going to stop.) and they need the kind of education money can buy. They need to be taught how to focus on their strengths and how to use them. They need to know they are worthwhile and they don’t need casual sex to make them feel good. Poster above is correct: they cannot feed them. So, they need access to abortion so we do not bring in any more babies who will be tortured and abused.
